Scran from the screen: The Simpsons Movie x RIOT

Hello friend and welcome to a segment that is inspired by two of my main hobbies, watching films and being a fat bitch. I'm going to take you on a journey around Liverpool, finding gastromonic delights that you've always wanted to try in real life. I've already got a a personal list a mile long, but don't forget to tell me what is on your list, too.

I've got three words for you: Stupid Sexy Flanders. You already know what this write up will pertain to, but for my friends who haven't seen the Simpsons Movie, it depicts the most gorgeously comforting hot chocolate i've ever laid my eyes on. Today, I woke up to see my day off was to be accompanied by grey skies and a swim into garston village to try and hunt down a mouthwatering cup of cocoa that would make Bart Simpson himself salivate.

My miserable walk took me to RIOT in Garston Village. FIRST THINGS FIRST: the hot chocolate is ridiculous. My body fat is now spilling out of my leggings as if to mimic the cream on the top of the cup that was placed down with care in front of me this morning. I like my jokes how I like my milk: blue - and the same can be said about the staff at RIOT in both instances.

Good service and delicious things will always be nice, and don't get me wrong, RIOT undoubtably has both. But a vibe that changes your order from 'to-go' to 'sit-in'? Places like that are hard to come by. In my book, some things are worth truly fighting for: trying to eat a full slice of homemade cake when you're on the jab and keeping community spirit. I can't help you with the first one, friend - man up or dose down. The second? If you want a place to have a good vibe, you have to actively be a part of it, or at least watch from the side lines in glee.

Everything takes a (Garston) village, and try as a might, I simply cannot write my silly little stories without other people. The damp L19 morning had zapped away my mood, so I shooted my shot and asked the patrons and staff alike who were already oozing with good vibes what scran from the screen is on their lists. Before I knew it, we were all in an hour-long conversations about the good, bad and ugly scrans from the silver screen. The sugar had gotten to my brain at this point, I genuinely felt like I was on a night out in a smoking area, but there was heating, no spit of the floor and cake.

I wasn't expecting to find such a gorgeous place today but something even more unexpected occurred. By the time I'd left the gaff, the sun was shining like crazy - I don't know if it was the shocking amount of sugar I'd just sipped seeping into my soul, but I'm pretty sure the energy we created had made mother nature smile, too. I said hello to everyone as I strolled home listening to the Ramones, under a sky looking just like the one from the beginning of the Simpsons.

Thanks RIOT, I don't know what one of your creations is sweeter: your elaborate hot chocolate or your effortlessly cool aura.

Sugar, spice, and all things punk and nice, Global Scouser x
